Brookstreet Securities ("Brookstreet") was a corporation formed in California in 1982. It operated as a broker-dealer selling life insurance and annuities, and engaged in other types of business as well. Its advisory service included, but was not limited to, financial planning and portfolio management. Brookstreet ceased doing business on June 30, 2007. On December 8, 2009 the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) charged Brookstreet with fraud for systematically selling risky mortgaged-backed securities to customers with conservative investment objectives.
